From the NIFA Code of Conduct: "The NIFA Judge’s charge is to act in an ethical and responsible manner at all times. The integrity of NIFA rests in the integrity and conduct of its judges." Educating judges on NIFA policies and procedures preserves the integrity of the organization.
Scoring and Scorekeeping Errors
Errors in scoring and scorekeeping harm the image and reputation of NIFA. Introducing standards and training for judges increases the consistency and accuracy of judging. As aviation professionals know, training, checklists, and verification are all tools which prevent errors.
Efficiency
SAFECON Judges School is time intensive for the senior judging staff and is available at only one time. Remote learning allows all judges to participate, reduces the workload of senior judging staff, and increases consistency of training material.
Strategic Plan
The NIFA Council has adopted a Strategic Plan for the organization, and this plan includes the development and implementation of a judge training program.
